The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather a lack of will.

– Vince Lombardi

To take full advantage of will power you should learn what it can and cannot do. People who say willpower doesn’t work are trying to use it a way that’s beyond its capabilities.

What is Willpower?

Willpower is the sudden boost of energy that you feel. It has strong force behind it but it does not last very long so for to get full advantage of it. You should give the right direction.

The application of willpower includes the following steps:

  •     Choose your objective
  •     Create a plan of attack
  •     Execute the plan

With willpower you may take your time implementing steps 1 and 2, but when you get to step 3, you’ve got to hit it hard and fast.

Don’t try to tackle your problems and challenges in such a way that a high level of willpower is required every day. Willpower is unsustainable. If you attempt to use it for too long, you’ll burn out. It requires a level of energy that you can maintain only for a short period of time… in most cases the fuel is spent within a matter of days.

Use Willpower to Create Self-Sustaining Momentum

As we know now that willpower only provide a short bust of energy so how can use it to create self-sustaining momentum. Like you know that for losing weight we should eat healthy food. So what we do is get rid of all the junk food and buy healthy food and stuff your refrigerator with it and prepares some healthy meal for the coming week. So when you wake up next day and don’t feel like doing much about your weight (i.e. the will power is gone) but you only have healthy food in your kitchen and healthy meal prepared so it will be easy for you to follow the habit of healthy eating. It will still be work to buy the healthy food every week and preparing it. But it will be easier than before.
