We all have some goal, dreams or desires that we want to achieve. We work
to fulfill them but more that often we fail to achieve them. What are the main
reason that we are not able to achieve our goals? Why we even after hard
work not able to achieve our goal? What are things that we are doing wrong?
I have found somethings that most of the people are doing wrong so make
certain that you don’t do the same mistakes.
1. Know where you are right now
The most important part for achieving a goal is knowing where you are right
now . To get to were you want to go you must know where you are right
now.
Take for example that you want to type faster do you know what is your
typing speed right now. This principle can apply to any field you are in what
you want to find out first that where are you write now.
2. Where you want go?
The next step is finding where you want to go. Take the same example of
typing speed you want a typing speed of 80 WPM ( Words Per Minute).
What is so good about this goal is that its specific and its quantifiable. You
can track your progress that how much you have improved every week or
Month.
The next thing that you want to find is this goal achievable. How can you
find if this goal is achievable? Search in google and find out if some one was
able to achieve that goal.
As you will find in our example that 80 wpm is average speed of typing for
profession typist. So this is a achievable goal. The next thing is setting
deadline.

3. When are you planning to fulfill your goal?
The next thing you want determine is the time and progression as you know
that you can’t go from 20 wpm to 80 wpm in a month( in most of case) so
you set a goal to improve your typing speed 10% every month. So if your
typing speed now is 20 wpm you will set a target to get to 22 wpm at the end
of the month. You will see in most of the cases that you will exceed your set
target but its a good base line.
Now the end date for your goal when you want to achieve the speed of 80
wpm. You decided to get to that goal in a year.
4. List the reasons that you want to achieve that goal
This list will help you in time when there is no quantifiable progress even
after putting a lot of work. This phase is called the dip. Sooner or latter you
will face this dip you cant do any thing to get away from it the only thing
that you can do is work through it.
