Procrastination is one of the biggest problems faced by many people. Are you one of them? Are you denying that you don’t have that problem? Are you able to achieve most of the goal that you set for yourself? If answer to any of this question is no to you then you have the problem or the habit of procrastination. In this article I will convey some of the basic methods by which you tackle the problem of procrastination.

What is Procrastination?
What is procrastination anyway? Procrastination is inaction or not tacking the action that are need to be taken or you can say that when you are not donning what you are supposed to do. Procrastination is the not taking action. It can apply to anything from completing you presentation for next business meeting to not cleaning your room. Sometime you feel so overwhelmed by all the work that you have to do that you do nothing at all.
So what can we do to take action? And if everyone has this problem then how is it possible that someone even get anything done. It is not that you can’t do anything about it most of the time you don’t want to do anything. So how to get over it all. Here are some basic tips.
1. Identify all your current projects
The first thing that you have to do is identify all your projects. Because if all your projects are not clearly defined then it became a problem for you to focus your energy. So a clean sheet of paper or open a word processor then start typing all the things that you think you should do. Like
Write a book
- Clean the garage
- Do your taxes
- Travel the world
- Learn a new language
- Read a book
When you are done with your list. Next thing is you decide what is the action that according to you are important and you want to achieve this month or year. And after that next step will be to determine your action plan.
2. Determine your action plan
So after you have decided which project you want to focus all your energy for now the next thing that you can do is determine the next logical action that you can take to achieve or get to start with you process of achieving what you want to achieve. Let’s take the previous list and make action set for them so that you can get an idea
- Create an outline
- Get started
- Is the entire document necessary for doing tax available for doing taxes or collect them
- where can you start you world tour have you seen all the sites that are close to where you live right now make a list of all the site that are close to you
This are some of the examples of how you can determine. So get to it. Now next step is setting time…
3. Set Time: The most important step of all
Now when you have decided what you want to do the next thing is that what time you will do it. If the action takes less than 2 min to complete then take the action. If not then set the time in your calendar of specific day and time when you will do this work.
For example you want to write the book and your next action is to create an outline you think it will take you 4 hours to write the outline of the book. You have only one hour to spare every day to this task. So you will set a time in next 4 day an hour a day in your calendar for this task.
One thing that I want to say is only focus on next step and after you have completed that step. Then and only then take time to think of the other steps that are necessary but not before that.
4. Take Action
How to apply every day?
At last I want to talk about how you can apply this four principle every day it will become easy now because you will get focus from you project list as you will focus on the most important one. It takes discipline to focus on one and only one action at time. You can try meditation to increase your power of concentration. All you have to do is take attest one action every day in your given project no big steps is needed the important thing is that you keep going even when you don’t feel like it you should focus all your energy on getting you one action done. Remember even the biggest ocean is just collection of a lots of single tiny drops of water.
