If you keep doing what you are doing you will keep getting what you have if you really want something else in your life you need to find the willingness and motivation to change. The biggest mistake people make while they are looking for a change in they try to do everything at once. That is an overwhelming task if you never exercised in your life and go to the gym and try to lift 100 kg you are going to hurt yourself. You need to start small find the single step that you can take to move forward. Like in our earlier example just go to the gym and do exercise which seems very easy for you, for a month then add a little weight.
One thing that I know from personal experience it is going to hard and you are going to get a lot of resistance not from outside. In this process, you will be your biggest enemy. Your mind will play tricks on you. It wants you to be the same do not change, because biologically speaking change seems dangerous to your existence. It affects your chance of survival and your mind is set up in a way that it wants you to preserve itself. It knows that if you keep doing what you are doing you will live because it has worked for so long. It doesn’t matter to your brain if it’s bad or good of you it wants things to be the same.
So how can you change when odds are stacked against you and even your mind is playing tricks on you to stay the same. There have been a lot of debates and books written on this topic from simple goal setting to neuro logistical programming. But sometimes the best answer is a simple one.
There is one book The 5 Second Rule which simply says when you have any action to take just count reverse from like 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, and go. Then just do it. If you want to read the full here it is.

You can do a lot of things that change your mind but if your state of mind is not changed it will become really hard for you to achieve anything. It is easy to do. You do it by taking action do not think just act in the way you want your life to be.
Action creates momentum and gets you in the direction of your goals. We will talk about goals in coming days. Why it is better to have process and habits than to have fixed goals. If you feel unhappy start to do something very small. Don’t sit or sleep it will just keep you in that state. What you can do is go to the park for a run or a walk. Or do some small chore in the house like clean your desk start writing things that need to be done. So it will take you out of the state of helplessness and into action.
As soon as you find yourself getting into some bad habit loops start doing something. It doesn’t need to be big just get your body moving.
It is not that important how the world really is but more important is how you see the world. So it become a really good reason to take a look at how you see the world so that you will be able to make better decision in your life.
You can be happier with whatever you currently have if you change the way you think about life.
Movies You See
The movies you watch are changing your way of thinking you know it or not. When you see anything in the movies that appears to be perceived normal by the character in the movies you start to think that it is normal in real life too.
News has a very strong effect on the way you see the world. As you see terror and violence in the news you start to think that world is a bad place. But in reality it is not that bad. As the only way to sell you news is to show you negative side of things and make them over emphasize.
Because when we are hunters and gather it is important for our survival that see and hear any sign of danger. But as we become more civilized that instinct stayed with us. Which is used by news people every day.
As news have an impact on how you see the world. Same is true with TV shows. Whenever you are watching any TV shows you are getting programed with you knowing it. It is get to feedback on how the world is and how to think.
So if you want to have more happiness in your life reduce your TV time. According to a study the countries with highest level of happiness are also with the least amount TV watching time.
Books You Read
If you are a motivational book you are motivate. If you read about someone who has surmount great difficulties you feel energy of their work when you read about them.
Many of the time it can have two impact on your either it will propel you to work in your life to feel sorry for the other person.
When you read about people who had condition worst then you. It get you thinking that if they can do it so can you. This is how it starts. You change how you see the world.
People You Meet
The people you know and the people you meet on a daily basis will have an effect on how you live your life. When you hear about an idea from somebody. You start to think about. Sometime you take action which will change your world.
So what we learn?
So the most important thing that we learn is that we should pay close attention to what we are expositing our mind to. If you change what you input you will change the output.
Why add extra burden to our life with things. That do not improve our life. Cut everything that is not helping your or at least reduce it.
Try a challenge for next 30 days don’t watch any TV at all. See what happens? Place a close attention to your habits, mood and peace of mind.
It is an important thing that you change the habit with something else so when you are doing this challenge of not watching TV for 30 days use that time for doing something else. You should have a list of things that you need to get done in that time.
Happiness is not a thing that you will get if you buy something. It is a state of being. You can be always happy, it is a choice. If you chose then you can be happy.
Make a list of all the things that you have right now. More often then not we are thinking about things that other people have that we want in our life it can be a car, relationship or even peace of mind.
The comparing and wanting of things that other have just create a lot unhappiness in your life. A big part of it because of TV we are know it is not real but we want to be like the person on TV.
Which is an unrealistic expectation because there is no one like them in the real world. Most of the time that is not really want either.
So it is important that you make a note of all the things that you currently have in life. So that you will be grateful for the life that you have.
Stop thinking about what other people think
This is the biggest time and energy waster of all. Thinking about what other people think whenever trying to do anything. You cannot ever really know what other people are thinking most of the time they are thinking what you are thinking about them.
So stop worrying about what others will think and focus on what you want. If you focus on what you want and work on it you will be happy.
Stop thinking about the future
Making plans for your future is great. But the problem comes when instead of working on those goals and making them a reality you day dream how your life will be if you achieve those goals. In the end you do not achieve those goals and you feel bad about yourself for not working.
So why not break the cycle make a plan determine the daily action that is need to achieve that goal and go out and do it every day.
Stop thinking about the past
This is the one of the bigger problem most of the people have living in the past. You cannot do anything about what had happened in the past. You can only take action today. What action you take today will determine what kind of future you will have and then how you will feel in future about your past.

Excellence in anything increases your potential in everything.
Set big goals
When you have big goals it gives a fire in your belly. You work hard and try to do anything in your power to achieve. The only way you are going to achieve big goals is by making yourself big.
So if you want something that you never had then you have do something that you never did. When you work towards a big goals it makes you happy that you are working something big.
And you are hocked on the feeling how you will feel when this goal is achieved. Which make you keep working and excited about life.
Exercise is one of those things that you cannot understand, befits of until your try it yourself. Now you do not have to work long to get the benefits according to a study you can work out 7 minutes a day and get good results. It is high intensity training protocol where the rest period is small.
Those who are just getting started often see the biggest boost in happiness:
The release of endorphins has an addictive effect, and more exercise is needed to achieve the same level of euphoria over time.
So once you start to work out you feel a rush of endorphins and you get addicted to great feeling that you have when you work out. Now when you work next time the only way to get those feeling is by working out harder or long.
I cannot tell you how happy I feel when I make progress in my workouts. You have to do it yourself to get the full benefits.
This are some of the things that you can do now so that you can be happy. You should make it a priority that you feel happy. You can fake it until you make it. What that mean that you should focus on small things that happen in your life.
Feel happy about them so your life is just a series of happy moments.

The first thing that you can do is stand in front of mirror and finds thing that you doing wrong. A good way to do is find a movie in which you like a character see how he sits, stand and walk. Try to copy them in found of the mirror.
Polish your shoes
A good shining shoe is a sign that you care about how you look. You don’t have to buy expensive shoes all you have to do is polish the shoes that you got. If you cannot polish the shoes then keep them clean.
Always be on time
Having a habit of always being on time is the most important habit you can have. It makes a positive impact on the person you are meeting that you value there time.
By read I do not mean novels. What I mean is self-help or how to books. You need to find things that you want to improve on then read books on those topics so that you can improve on them on regular basis.
Do not just read and forget what you read. Make a commitment to use what you have learned in your life. Your life will only improve when you apply what you have learned. So find one or two things from every book that you read that you will apply in your life.
Find a mentor
If you want to improve in anything it is a good idea to get mentor. One thing that you have to make sure that your mentor is at the place where you wanted to go. Then and only then he will be help you get there.
Do something for your mentor too. Try to think of ways in which you can add value to your mentor. So that it becomes a giving and receiving relationship.
Keep a smile on your face
They say smile is contagious. If you have smile on your face it tells your body that you are happy even when you are not. Your physiology change your inner believes.
Get a clean hair cut
Having a good hair cut is also important. You should have hair cut according to your job. You can have small hair no matter what you do. Keep your hair clean and combed at all time.

You need to see personal development as a journey. It is not something that you can achieve overnight. It is a process in which you are always finding ways to improve yourself on daily basis.

I have being doing exercise on and off for more than 10 years. I got serious about exercise last year and did 5-6 days a week of exercise the hole year this are some of things that I found out after exercising for a hole year.
It saves you money
Exercise above all save you a lot of money in medical bills. If you exercise regularly you will be able fight off small illness without much of medication. The current medication will also be reduced that is also money saved.
I use to get cold a lot in past at least 3-5 times a year but past year I got cold only once and it was not bad as compared to before.
Gives you energy
When you exercise on a regular basis you will feel that you have more energy all day long. It is important that you do not push too hard in your exercise. You should have a balance exercise program. When you start an exercise for first few weeks take it slow do not try to do a lot. If you do that you will feel great after working out.
Make you happy
Doing exercise make you happy by feeling more alive and active in your life. It produces endorphins and other chemicals in your body which make you feel happy in your life.
I always smile when I work out it feel good when improve in gym. Like lift more weight or run longer or with ease.
If you have ever exercised you know that exercising reduce stress. When you put good effort into your exercise you forget everything out side of gym and get zone out and for a moment and live in bliss.
It is the best investment
Having a good health is the best investment that you can make in your life. If you are not healthy you cannot enjoy any of the things that life has to offer.

If you exercise on a regular basis you look good. When people compliment on how you look or get surprised when they see after a long time it feel awesome.

When you exercise daily a lot of good habits come as side effect of doing that. You start to eat healthy. You procrastinate less. You are more open to change.

Remove your bad habits
Bad habits are holding you back from your self-development. If you want to run free and grow as much as you can you should find the bad habits that you have and remove them. You do not need to remove all of them at the same time you should focus on one at a time.
Without knowing yourself there is self-development. You have to learn about yourself in depth. Find out the things that make you tick, things that motivate to take action. When you find out thing that motivates you change will come easily to you.
Self-development is a lifelong process you cannot rush into it. You can work on one thing at time from the above list and when you get better it. You can choose another. For example you chose to wake up at 5 am. So what you will in the start is focus on getting up daily.
Set you alarm at 5 am and when alarm goes off get out of bed. Start doing your work as soon as you get out of your bed. So for example you brush your teeth after you wake up. So what you will do is get out of your bed and start brushing your teeth.
So what that mean is that you should treat your day as normal at the place of starting at 8 am it start at 5 am. Once you get good at it or 30 days has gone by you can add another thing to your daily action.

Lack of goal
If you do not have goals in your then anything that you do is important and in that process nothing get done. You cannot make a difference in your life what is important and what is not if you do not have a clear set goal that you want to achieve in your life.
For some the problem is not that they do not have goals. But the problem is that they have a lot of things that they want to do in their life and set out to do all of them at the same time. But that never works so what you need to do is find 3 things that you want to do now.
Get started on working on those 3 things do not think about anything before you get those things done. You can only add new goals if you have finished one of the previous 3 goals. So set small goals or break large goals into small parts.
No set daily action
You have set goals and have selected top 3 goals that you want to achieve now. Even after doing all that you are not able to get clear direction in your day. You feel like all the day what you are really doing is running around and nothing is done.
The reason for that is simple it is not enough that you set a top 3 goals you now need to find 3 things that you will do not daily basis that will get you in the direction of your goal. For example you have one of the goals of getting fit or losing weight. So your daily action will be to exercise and eat less.
What you need to do is find an exercise plan which is at least 12 weeks long and less than 45 minutes a day of work 5-6 days a week. The reason for having a well thought out plan is that when you get up every day you do not have to think about what is it that you have to do today you will just look at your plan and do the exercise that is written.
If you think that your plan is not getting you result and want to change you cannot until 12 weeks are over no matter what. Same goes for your eating plan as well.
Some people try to do it all at the same time. They think that they can do that. But as humans we are designed to do one task at a time. I am not saying that you cannot do more than one thing at time I am saying is that if you want the best results it is better if you stick with one thing at time.
You will be able to do more and with a lot of efficacy if you focus on doing one thing at a time.
How can you solve this problem?
Top 5 things
Make a list of top 5 things that you need to do the next day at night that will make the most difference in your life. You will get 3 three things from the above and you will at 2 things that you need to do in your life. Like pay bills, talk to someone etc.
You should make a commitment to do those things first before doing anything else. You should not check you mail, Facebook, twitter before you have completed your list of 5 things.
If you are in the habit of saying yes to everything, then you will have a lot of things on your plate every day. In that case what happens is that you will not be able to do the top 5 things that we have determined in the above point.
When you are not able to do those 5 things you will not get the result that you want in the end.
Focus on one thing at a time
When you are using your computer for doing anything like checking mails or doing some research, Set a timer for 5, 10 or 15 minutes it depends. Start the timer now you should only focus on your mails and try to answer as many as possible.
If there are some left set the timer again and try to complete them. You should focus on improving yourself every time.
Everything should have a place and everything should be at its place
When I was in college I lived in a hostel as for the first time living by myself i used to put thing anywhere. So when I need a nail cutter I have to look for it for 2 hours to get it. A lot of headache and waste of time comes from looking for things.
So it enough is enough so what I did is I made a place of nail cutter I always put it in same exact place after use. What that does when I need to find it I know where I will get it.
Same goes for paper work. You do not need to be super organized it do help. What you can do at its place is that you can make a box or drawer. Where whenever you have any paper that you think is important you put it there.
So in future when you looking for a receipt on something you will know where it will be. It makes life so easy and takes no time at all on your part.
These are some of things that you can do if you find yourself in always in hurry. This are things that will eliminate things that what waste time. So that you will have time for things that you want to do the most.

Get out of your comfort zone
If you stay in your comfort zone you will not grow. What is your current comfort zone? What can you do to get out of your comfort zone? You should ask yourself these questions so that you can improve.
Do you feel comfortable in life right now? Then there is a good chance you are not growing. Just like building muscles when you lift weights that are easy you do not make muscle. If you want to make muscles you have train to your current limit and keep pushing.
If you do not have a to-do list then make one. If you do not know what are things that you need to do then you will never get it done. Write it down. A list in your head is not good enough you have to write you list down. When you complete a task make a mark on your list.
If you have a to-do list but never follow it then it is time you start doing that. The best way to complete things on your to do list is by looking at your list today multiple times a day.
Then main reason for most of people for not doing their work is that whey forgets what they need to do as the day goes by.
The only way you are going to improve yourself is by knowing yourself first. So find out what are good and bad habits that you have. Remove bad habits from your life and focus on replacing them with good ones.
When you know what your faults you can work on them. If you think that there is nothing wrong with you then why you do not have the life that you wanted. In some areas we are ok in some we bad so what we need to do is make our ok good and our bad ok. Keep working it all of the areas become good.
Then you should focus on all you good and make them great.
Action gives you result. It can be a good result or bad depending on type of action you take. Thinking and dreaming for things to happen will not get them done. Only way anyone has ever got anything done is by taking action.
Most of time people focus on things that they should not be doing. But the right thing to do is focus on things that you should be doing. So at the place of I should not eat processed food you should be saying “I should eat healthy foods” at the place of saying “I should not waste my time watching TV” you should be saying “I should use my time to develop myself”.
If you start doing that you will see, not only you are getting better results you are also focusing on positive in your life.
